{ GORJUSS } Love and Smile Scrapbook Layout Tutorial

I had a wonderful time making this. Adding different type of texture to scrapbook layouts just makes you want to reach out and run your fingers over the elements. It brings back all sorts of memories as you make your way around the page. The colours in the new A4 Ultimate Die-cut and Paper Pack from Santoro cried out for me to use a sepia photograph of my darling daughter, with the little decoupage ‘gorjuss girls’ a perfect fit for a girly layout. I started building my page by creating a dimensional look with several layers of papers, keeping the main background paper plain as it is more effective to add different, colourful embellishments on a less busy background. Keeping the edges of the papers unstuck not only makes the layout visually interesting but adds a tactile element to the page too. I continued the texture theme with the addition of crochet trim and ribbon bows for a soft, fabric feel. 3D clear gloss provided a smooth touch, with more solid textures offered from gems, a metal frame and a metal button. This tutorial was originally published in Issue 63 of docrafts Creativity Magazine. Scrapbook layout and tutorial by Marta Lapkowska.
1. Start by layering different-sized paper panels on a plainer background paper. Leave the edges unstuck to add dimension and to allow other elements to be tucked under.
2. Add borders down the left to mirror the overlapping papers on the right. Fill in the hearts with Anita’s 3D Clear Gloss to add a smooth, shiny touch.
3. Add a border of crochet trim over a length of ribbon. Cluster a couple of large ribbon bows under the photo to add a soft, feminine touch.
4. Tuck ornate frames from different die-cuts behind the photo to draw the eye to the focal point. Trim to fit and overlap.
5. Handwrite your journaling in brown dual-tip pen to echo the sepia feel on the photo then mount in a metal frame.
6. Trim the edges of a number of doily die-cuts and tuck under the edges of the background paper layers. This softens the edges and draws the eye to the title. Mirror the idea with a couple of matching doily die-cuts tucked under the photo.
